Our friends, Esther&Gabe (Bell Studio) shooted a typical Hungarian wedding in countryside style. What a feeling! No need to write or say anything. Breathtaking how the freedom and the softness of the simple being came through.

Két fotós barátunk, Esther&Gabe / Bell Studio már megint nagyot alkotott. Ezúttal egy hagyományőrző vidéki esküvőt fotóztak. Micsoda életérzés!! Felesleges bármit írni vagy mondani. Egyszerűen lélegzetelállító a szabadság és a lágyság, ami átjön a fotókon.

Jewellery box in the heart of Budapest / Ékszerdoboz Budapest szívében

We met Anikó Hári two years ago when she invited us to visit her store and see her jewellery collection during FalkArt. The store is located on Falk Miksa street surrounded by well-known antique and art galleries.
When we entered the shop, immadiately fell in love with the precious tailor-made pieces. Once you enter, you won't leave without impressions.
Engagement rings, coctail rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings.... many-many unique pieces made of special stones, crystals and minerals.

Aniko graduated as a goldsmith in 1983. In her career so far she had worked as a goldsmith in several workshops in Hungary, but her long-time dream came true when in 2007 opened her own jewellery gallery on Falk Miksa street.

She is proudly doing her hobby day by day, as her mission says : “I am one of those lucky people whose job is also their hobby.”

 

Anikó Hári's jewelleries are hallmarked by special forms, each piece has been made manually, by traditional techniques, of gold, silver and platinum. She uses precious stones and natural minerals for each piece, and keeps seeking stones with special shades and cutting, especially during her trips to exotic foreign countries.

Her greatest love and challenge is customized jewellery design. Over the years several objects and motives have captured her fantasy. She has expressed these impressions in her unique and constantly expanding collections, each built around a central motive.

Hári Anikóval két éve találkoztunk először az egyik FalkArt rendezvényen. Meghívott minket üzletébe a művészeti és antik galériák által övezett Falk Miksa utcába. Szerelem volt első látásra! Egymás után próbálgattuk az ékszereket: koktélgyűrűket, nyakláncokat, fülbevalókat, karkötőket, eljegyzési gyűrűket... Minden darabnak egyedi története van, Anikó órákat tud mesélni egy-egy kő sorsáról, hogy hogyan talált rá és mi ösztönözte, miért pont azt a darabot készítette belőle. Minden ékszer egyedi, különleges drágakőből és ásványból készülnek.

 

Anikó 1983-ban végzett ötvösként, saját boltják 2007-ben nyitotta meg, és ezzel egy nagy álma vált valóra. Szerencsés embernek tartja magát, mert a munkája egyben a hobbija is. Ebben nagyon hasonlítunk egymásra :)

Az egyedi formákat, anyagokat speciális témák inspirálják. Egzotikus tájakra utazik inspirálódni és mindenhol a különlegeset, az egyedit keresi. Minden kőben, ásványban lát "valamit", ami vonzza és inspirálja, ezért van minden egyes darabnak saját története.

Breaking news: Fabergé opens at 694 Madison Avenue, New York

About one year ago we posted a long article about Fabergé, one of the most prestigious brands ever. They did not plan to open further stores, but thanks to the booming luxury sector performance in the past years, the company decided to expand its avtivity, to NewYork. The store is located at Madison Avenue and planned to open to public on 23rd May.

The jewel-like 850 sq boutique is an intimate haven of luxury, designed to balance opulence and modernity, in contemporary Fabergé style. In the spirit of the spectacular flagship in Geneva, the Madison Avenue store is decorated in exquisite materials, silk curtains and wall panels, brushed oak floor, punctuated with a rich purple button-backed wall, subtly evoking Romanov splendour.
The Madison Avenue boutique will launch with an exclusive new collection, Les Précieuses de Fabergé that pays tribute to the unrivalled style of America’s Gilded Age society.

'YOU own the dress, the dress does not own you!' / "TE uralod a ruhát és nem a ruha téged!" (Alexander McQueen)

I really like this sentence once Alexander McQueen told Karlie Kloss before she went out on the runway wearing a dress that was very long and difficult to walk in, and she was concerned the dress was going to get caught on her shoe: 'Don't worry, Karlie, if it does, just take it off and throw it, throw the dress. Remember - YOU own the dress, the dress does not own you!'
And this is what we totally agree with.

Alexander McQueen egyik bemutatóján Karlie Kloss topmodell izgult, hogy a ruhája túl hosszú és beakad a cipőjébe. A tervező a következő mondattal nyugtatta őt meg: "Ne aggódj, Karlie, ha beakad, csak tépd le a ruhát és dobd el. Egy dologra mindig emlékezz: TE uralod a ruhát és nem a ruha téged!"
És ez így is van!

Wedding cakes / Esküvői torták

No doubt, the Matias confectionery in Győr is fantastic, and its leader, Jozsef Lengyel is one of the greatest confectioners we have ever met.
We had heard about Jozsef a lot before we finally met him during working on our book "Wedding" in 2010. Actually it was a friend who suggested us getting in touch with Jozsef. He was so delighted and promised to send us as many cakes as we wanted. "This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship" - we thought and really looked forward to cooperate with Jozsef.
Jozsef Lengyel and his masterpieces are fabolous and besides looking gorgeous, the cakes taste amazing as well. Just take a look at the pictures. And go to Alexandra Café at Parizsi Nagyaruhaz in Budapest, or to Matias Confectionery in Győr for tasting them. Definitely worth a trip!


Nincs kétségem, hogy Lengyel József, a győri Matias Cukrászda vezetője az ország egyik legjobb cukrásza. 
Már azelőtt sokat hallottunk róla, hogy megismertük. Két évvel ezelőtt, az Esküvő c. könyv készítése közben ajánlotta egy barát, hogy keressük fel Józsefet, mert csodálatosak a munkái. Legnagyobb meglepetésre telejsen felvillanyoztuk és annyira izgatott lett, hogy megígérte, annyi tortát és süteményt küld, amennyit csak kérünk. Ez aztán egy barátság kezdete! :)
József és az ő csodái amellett, hogy gyönyörűek, még istenien finomak is. Érdemes csak a fotókra nézni. És persze megkóstolni őket egyesével. Budapesten például a Párizsi Nagyáruház Lotz termében található Alexandra kávézóban. Vagy Győrben a Matias Cukrászdában.

The coctail dress / A koktélruha

Each woman should have at least one coctail dress; this is the must item of all times. Coctail dresses are semi-formal pieces, somewhere between the daily and the evening wear categories. It can be short or long, it's not the length that determines a coctail dress, though the length ranges from just above the knee to touching the ankle. The LBD (little black dress) is the most popular coctail dress, no woman can ignore it from her wardrobe! There is no LBD in Makány Márta's 2012 collection, but these colourful pieces draw attention for sure.

Minden nőnek van legalább egy koktélruhája, szinte kötelező darab. A koktélruhát félhivatalos eseményeken hordunk, ahol a hétköznapi ruházat alulöltözöttségre vall, de az estélyi ruha már túl sok lenne.
Lehet hosszú vagy rövid, igazából nem ez határozza meg, hogy egy ruha koktélruha e. A hossznál azonban fontos figyelembe venni, hogy térd fölé nem nagyon érhet, viszont a bokáig nyugodtan.
A kis fekete ruha a koktélruhák királynője, egy nőnek sem hiányozhat a ruhatárából! Makány Márta 2012-es kollekciójában kis fekete ugyan nincs, de ezek a színes ruhák magukra/magunkra vonják a figyelmet, ez nem kérdés.

Blue has been back in fashion for more than a year now. Pastel, neon, dark, turquise...no matter, we love oll of them!  /  A kék több mint egy éve újra divatszín lett. Pasztel, neon, sötétkék, türkizkék..mindegy, mert mindegyik divat idén!

Evening dresses in summer parties / Nyári estélyi ruhák

Makány Márta has always been famous and known for her gorgeous evening dresses. Skirts and dresses with rich embroidery and peasant details, hand crafted added pieces, perfectly matching colours, Swarovski crystals and pearls.
In 2012 the evening wear collection is very diverse. Instead of the huge volume dresses we presented in the past years, pieces are softer and more tender. The focus is more on the fabric pattern and on the colour variation .
Which one would you choose for a summer event?

Makány Márta gyönyörá estélyi ruháiról lett ismert. Hímzés, csipkével applikált díszítés, kézzel megmunkált darabok, gondosan összeillesztett színek, Swarovski kristállyal és gyöngyözéssel díszített darabok jellemezték mindig is a ruhákat.
2012-ben az alkalmi ruha kollekció nagyon változatos. Az elmúlt években megszokott nagy volumenű ruhák helyett idén sokkal lágyabb és könnyedebb darabok kerültek előtérbe. A hangsúly sokkal inkább a mintán és a színkombináláson van.

Summer field / Nyári mező

Using colours has always been Marta Makany's main feature and style, especially with flower patterns. Some of the dresses from our spring-summer 2012 collection were inspired by the fresh breeze and the sunny, colourful summer fields. Colours and flowers recharge us after the cold winter days so much.
In 2012 flower pattern in huge and very trendy. You decide if you wear it in this season or not, but one thing is sure: flowers will cover not only the gardens, but the streets as well in this summer.

Makány Márta egyik fő jellegzetessége a színek vegyítése és használata, különösen, ha virágmintáról van szó. A 2012-es tavaszi-nyári kollekció néhány darabját a friss tavaszi szellő és a színes, nyári mezők ihlették, melyek energiával töltenek fel a téli napok után.
2012-ben a virágminta nagyon menő. Te döntöd el, hogy viselsz-e virágmintát idén vagy sem, de egy dolog biztos: nem csak a kertekben nyílnak idén nyáron a virágok, hanem az utcákon is.
